The stress of the daily grind got you down? Or maybe someone fucking pissed you off again? (Ok, if you’re pissed because you followed the “fucking” link hoping to find something pornographic, that’s your problem, not mine. Ditto for the subsequent link.)
But hey, if you’re looking for a quick fix (for stress unrelated to sexual depravation, sorry, deprivation), there is hope. A device called StressEraser from Sharper Image claims to be able to counter stress symptoms by synchronising effective breathing with a user’s continuous heart rate to activate your “pacifying (parasympathetic) nerves”. This, in turn, reduces stress levels by calming your “stimulating (sympathetic) nerves”.
The product was honoured with Frost & Sullivan’s 2006 Medical Industry Award for Technology Innovation of the Year for helping individuals achieve “physiological, mental and emotional relaxation” – non-invasively and without drugs. Unfortunately, the first thing that will stress you out is its price: US$299.95. Besides, there’s a less expensive way to let it all out.
