Just so you know, there will be a Banned Books Week from September 23-30. Observed since 1982, this annual event celebrates the freedom to choose or express one’s opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular. Hence, it stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. For this purpose, check out the list of “The 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–20001” compiled by American Library Association. Strangely, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is at number 5. Now that you have a suggested list, stop taking this precious democratic freedom for granted and start reading!
