There was a great ruler of Macedon who liked eggs roasted in the fire. Every morning, as the emperor stretched his arms on awakening, the bedside guard would call to the hall guard: “All eggs under the grate!”
The hall guard passed the words down the corridors and the call would echo to the waiting chef in the kitchen: “All eggs under the grate! All eggs under the grate!”
Is it any wonder the emperor became known to history as Alexander the Great?
