Hello Winston,
I refer to your editorial, “Why stoop so low?”, in the April 2004 issue of CHIP magazine. So, your competitors have been bad-mouthing CHIP? Welcome to the real world.
Ever been to a Sun Microsystems or Microsoft event? Perhaps even an Oracleor PeopleSoft briefing? That’s what competition is all about. Even those fellas will not come out of their closets to publicly denounce their arch-rivals.
Deal with the situation with more maturity and quit whining about what the competition has done, or so you alleged. I’m not saying that bad-mouthing the competition is justifiable, but you should channel your energies to doing what’s right for the magazine, such as improving the quality of the editorial, rather than spend time bashing those you accused of doing the same to your publication.
Needless to say, it’s your prerogative to choose the course of action that you think is right.
Just a little friendly advice from an ex-colleague.
