It’s probably not a good idea to watch the movie first before reading this book. It removes the anticipation and suspense. Another side effect is that you will find it hard to get rid of the image of Doctor Strange whenever John Harrison/Khan appears in the storyline.
If anyone wants to take a brief course in persuasion, read the negotiation between Captain Kirk and Admiral Marcus when the latter demanded the turnover of the prisoner on the Enterprise.
