Paparazzi Materazzi

By | July 12, 2006

In the wake of Zinedine Zidane’s sent-off during extra time of the World Cup final between France and Italy, should his “victim” Marco Materazzi be punished as well?

Like they always say, it takes two hands to clap. Zidane’s headbutting act is a red-card offense, no question about it. But should the agent provocateur be given a yellow card, if not red?

Abbas Raza argues that only a particularly vile racial slur, not something as trite as your typical trash talk, will make a seasoned player like Zidane lose his cool.

Materazzi’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, claimed: “I’ve known Marco for a long time and I don’t think he is capable of provoking a player, he is a good boy.”

Well, some good boy he is.
