Some watch enthusiasts baffle me. They buy a watch and they are afraid to wear it in case the crystal/case/bracelet gets scratched.
And when they first get a tiny scratch on their watch, they frantically search for a “solution” to buff it out.
That’s dumb.
It’s like marrying someone and you don’t fuck that person, preferring to keep everything intact. (What? Until the next person comes around? You’re a Rolex speculator?)
For me, I want my watch to get scratched. It’s evidence of the watch’s journey with me. I can look at the imperfections and reminisce the times when I was careless or doing something stupid.
The only thing I’ll insist on doing is to give the watch a nice wipe down after wearing it. It’s like taking a shower. You don’t take shower?
“Wait! It’s only 100m water resistance. You CANNOT shower with it. You need a true ISO 6425 certification.”
I rest my case.
